As a Project Engineer, you will be supporting the construction of a large-scale mission critical data center in rural Texas. Project Engineers work closely project teams, field leadership, and other jobsite stakeholders to successfully deliver mechanical scopes safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is the next step in Harder's project management career path and provides increasing responsibility for planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction work.

What you’ll be doing:
You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing a specific scope of the project you are assigned to at Harder.

Project Engineers at Harder perform the following daily tasks:

  • Plan and execute assigned mechanical scopes on large mission critical data center projects
  • Coordinate daily with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, designers, and owners to maintain project progress
  • Review mechanical, plumbing, piping, and equipment drawings to verify constructability and identify potential conflicts before installation
  • Develop work packages, installation plans, and short-term look-ahead schedules that support field execution
  • Track labor productivity, quantities installed, earned value, and percent complete
  • Prepare labor forecasts, equipment forecasts, and cost projections for assigned scopes
  • Coordinate procurement activities including material releases, purchase orders, fabrication status, deliveries, and inventory management
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, turnover documentation, and as-built drawings
  • Support commissioning activities, startup planning, system turnover, and owner acceptance
  • Identify project risks early and work collaboratively to develop solutions
  • Mentor Field Engineers and provide guidance as they develop their technical and project management skills
  • Promote Harder's safety culture by ensuring all work is planned and executed safely
What you will need to be successful in this role:
  • Understanding of mechanical construction systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, process piping, and equipment installation
  • Ability to interpret mechanical coordination drawings, shop drawings, and BIM models
  • Experience coordinating with multiple trades in fast-paced construction environments
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in remote project locations and active construction environments
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel (preferred)
Education/Experience:
  • 1 - 4 years of construction management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Business Management, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil Engineering and/or equivalent experience or education
